Aperol Spritz

My mum used to go to a little lake nearby to escape the lockdown blues. There’s also a little beach bar run by a quite peculiar staff. However, they do serve proper Aperol Spritz, Germany’s most popular aperitif. Also it is a perfect location to watch the sun go down over the dark hills of the Palatinate Forest. She sent me pictures of her each time she went. Finally, I was able to come with her this summer and immediately understood why she loved this place so much. A perfect opportunity for me to go for a good swim and reward myself with the evening sun caught in my summer drink. Cheers!

Forest Fantasy

These pictures showed me that you find the best motifs when you least look out for them. I was hiking in the Harz mountains and needed to rush back to the train station to catch the last train home. The sun was already setting and I still had 8 km to go. My feet hurt and I was getting anxious. But on a steep narrow path I came across a little clearing where the grass swayed golden in the evening breeze. In front stood an old tree stump covered with lichen. How bizarre, I thought and stamped on downhill. However, somehow the scenery got stuck in my mind and I eventually stumbled back to the clearing and quickly took some close ups of the lichen against the grass in the background. I was already on the train home when I examined the results of my picture hunt and I realized that those were the best fotos of the day by far. What do you think?

To me it looks like a surreal landscape on a foreign planet I would definitely love to visit.

Here is a photo of the grass if you are curious:
